Sober & Uncensored: The Big Mamma’s Burrito

As my first post, I’d like to take things with a little levity in order to familiarize yourself with some of the culture of Athens, even if only about 20 minutes of our Saturday nights are spent waiting in that distressingly long line…

We all know the it’s (quite possibly) the best food ever when we’re out on the town on Saturday night, but have we ever taken a chance to look around (I know, at this point things might be a little blurry) and think: “What else does Big Mamma’s have to offer?”

And believe it or not, they’ve got options that’ll make your head spin even more than it was when you ordered your first Chipotle Ranch Big Mamma.

“My favorite burrito is the Mamma Grande. Most people get the Chipotle Ranch with chicken, which is perfectly okay! But it always helps to try something new,” said Robert Burke, a former employee at Big Mamma’s.

The Mamma Grande contains a Mexican fiesta of rice, choice of meat, choice of beans, salsa, sour cream, cheese, onions, red peppers, cilantro, lime juice and lettuce.

Not to mention, with a fully customizable menu, Big Mamma’s offers many other options you can indulge your Natty-filled stomachs in, including the Chili Mamma, the McMamma (That’s right, McDonald’s in a burrito), and the Mamma Club (basically a Chipotle Ranch plus bacon; you’re welcome, people).

Back to the point, though. There’s more to Big Mamma’s than the drunken eye, and before you are about to order your umpteenth Chipotle Ranch Mamma (double the rice, no onion), take a look around. This is more than a drunk night on the town. It’s a decision that could affect the rest of your drunken nights henceforth. (Cue dramatic music) It’s your life.
